We had a wonderful stay at the Assembly House, and can only echo all the positive comments already made - it’s important to be aware of the quirks, such as going outside to access your room, and the stairs etc. We had to wait a little while for a parking space to appear but it wasn’t a big issue. The room and the building in general was spotlessly clean and all the staff were helpful and friendly, particularly Emily who served breakfast, which was plentiful and delicious. Don’t forget to look at the buffet table as there were lots of extras. Our room was so pretty and spacious. The bed and bedding were incredibly comfortable. A large fan was welcome. The free standing bath was heavenly and the shower very warm and powerful. The room was quiet and the courtyard peaceful in the morning, lovely to hear the church bells. My only one tiny niggle was the noise from people in the courtyard on the afternoon we checked in. For reasons best known to themselves, a large group of afternoon tea guests decided to stay for well over 2hrs after the end of their tea, standing around (in the rain) and talking loudly in the courtyard, without any thought to anyone else. This was annoying when trying to relax and rest in an expensive hotel room. Not the hotel’s fault but something to point out; likewise they could encourage tea guests to move on. There was an event in the evening but they soon moved indoors and didn’t hear a peep when they left. We hope to return soon for afternoon tea as it looked beautiful. Very close proximity to some nice shops at the Chantry shopping centre. Highly recommended.
