We had an absolutely amazing afternoon tea. So much as well - we took some home. The whole experience is wonderful and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. In particular, Suzanne, who looked after us so well - nothing was too much trouble for her. She also had to deal with a very awkward customer on the table beside us. She dealt with her really well with grace and a smile. I would not hesitate to recommend The Assembly House.

First time visit, and wowed by this beautiful, stylish, hotel close to the town centre. We were on a Stay with Fizz offer that is incredible value, including a wonderful afternoon tea and fizz in our huge luxury bedroom (with a lovely large bathroom). Everywhere is tastefully decorated, creating a perfect ambience. The food offerings were very good. Our stacked afternoon tea was a blitz of treats for the mouth, and so generous we took the final scones away! Breakfast had a good range of options and was cooked very well. During our time all the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, and contributed to a wonderful experience.

Great location, easy parking (just pay £10 to hotel for overnight), sumptuous bedrooms each different but beautifully designed, all very comfortable, high quality from the linen & towels, furniture, bathrooms, with lots of thoughtful touches. Nespresso machine, small bottle fresh milk in fridge (along with mineral water bottles), small packet of delicious homemade biscuits It was third time we have stayed here. This time we chose Room 16 which is one of the new ones. Light, bright, huge, gorgeous bathroom. Breakfast is generous and ok. However, the reason to stay here is the sumptuous bedrooms which feel very detached from the main building. Welcoming and good service on checkin & checkout.

Second time to stay here, and overall an extremely pleasant stay. The history of the place is amazing, and it oozes charm. Perfect location, right next to Theatre Royal and within easy walk of shops and restaurants in the centre. The rooms are spacious, cosy and skilfully decorated. A perfect retreat in every sense! Now, while my first visit 3 years ago was perfect in absolutely every respect (which is what brought me back in the first place), this time there were some glitches, though: - I was travelling with my brother this time, and we wanted to book a twin room. However, when wanting to make the reservation about 12 months in advance (on the occasion of my birthday), I was told that most of the rooms (including both twins) were blocked by a wedding party, for a wedding to take place at the weekend of our visit. I was told, however, that it was highly likely that one of the two twin rooms would be released by the end of the year. This didn't happen. When following up, I was then told that the wedding couple had until April to make a final decision. But again, I did not receive an update, until I pressed for a response again. In the end, neither of the two twin rooms was released, which meant that we had to settle for Room 6, with a four-poster bed and a sofa bed. I was a bit disappointed that regular guests seems to take second priority after wedding guests. I also wish we hadn't been made near-promises that couldn't be kept. Had we known early on that there was a reasonable risk we could not get a twin room, we could have changed our plans and avoided the wedding weekend. Anyway, in the end (according to my companion), the sofa bed turned out to be more comfortable than expected, so it wasn't as bad as we had feared. - We discovered upon our arrival, however, that the staff on duty were apparently not aware of our needs, so the sofa bed was not prepared, and no was bedding available. Upon inquiry at reception, we were at first told to prepare it ourselves, as it "would be quite easy". But when I pointed out that there was apparently no bedding available in the room, the staff promised to make it ready for our return later that night. I would have expected this to be done without having to point it out first. - After the second night, we left the hotel for a day trip around 9am, returning around 4pm. However, upon our return, we discovered that the room had not been made up. Not sure whether this was just an oversight, but I feel that this should not happen at an establishment of this category. - Breakfast overall was excellent. On the first morning we were given a relatively large table (which can seat 4), which was perfect. On the following two mornings we were assigned a table for 2 (presumably because the hotel was fully booked, not least with the wedding guests), which we felt was rather on the small side. That said, should I be back in Norwich again in future, the Assembly House will also be my first choice for accommodation.

We booked a room at The Assembly House for our anniversary, received a confirmation, and payment was taken. Two days later—just 24 hours before our planned stay—we were informed that our booking could not be honoured because the room had already been reserved by another guest the previous day. The hotel admitted this was a duplication error in their booking system. However, it was disappointing that the issue was not identified immediately after our booking, leaving us with little time to make alternative plans. Although we received an apology and were offered Afternoon Tea as compensation, this did not reflect the disruption caused or the disappointment of losing an important celebration. While technical errors may happen, the lack of urgency in resolving this one has left us very reluctant to recommend The Assembly House at this time.

What a gem this hotel is, room spotless, bed comfortable, easily controlled room temperature, bath and shower, everything needed supplied, friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was awesome, nothing was too much trouble, plenty of food, cooked to perfection. This is without doubt the best hotel in Norwich, absolutely faultless, in fact one of best, if not the best hotel in the UK, and I have stayed in many.

What a special place this is. Me and my partner, plus family, stayed a few days, for our wedding. From the moment we enquired about our big day, we were treated like royalty. Gemma, was absolutely fantastic the whole way through the process. Doesn’t miss a beat, fast with email replies and always willing to help. We can’t thank you enough Gemma. During our stay, every single member of staff, was top-class, and always with a smile on their face. Attention to detail is top draw. Service is 5 star, without doubt. The rooms are amazing too, room 12 is huge and just amazing. On the big day, they took care of everything, couldn’t have gone smoother. Kirsten managed our wedding day, it was clear from the start, she was on top of everything, leaving us at complete ease, we didn’t have to think or worry about anything, just enjoy ourselves. Thank you Kirsten. Food was absolutely incredible, perfect in-fact. Can’t thank the whole place enough. Cya soon for sure!

After years of free parking for guests of the bedrooms, without notice and secretly they have introduced a horrific £18.50 charge for parking which they do not tell you about before you arrive. All the staff are all embarrassed and do not agree with this change and are receiving lots of negative feedback and complaints. This needs to change urgently. Why is not still included in the price of the stay as before - then no-one would be upset !!!!!!
