Wij verbleven, achteraf jammer genoeg, 1 nacht in de Pharao kamer. De kamer was ontzettend ruim en heeft daarnaast ook een groot balkon met ligstoelen. Het kingsize bed ligt heerlijk en er zijn verschillende hoofdkussens. Een badkamer met een enorm ruime douchecabine, een Frans bad op pootjes en een dubbele wastafel. Ik had graag gebruik gemaakt van het bad, maar vond dat niet gepast ivm het gebrek aan water in januari. Verder is er aan alles gedacht. Er zijn badjassen, een koffie/thee hoekje en een koelkastje met water van het huis. We hebben aan het einde van de dag 1,5 uur gebruik gemaakt van het zwembad. Er is een gratis handdoek service. De gastvrouw en gastheer zijn ontzettend aardig. En de hondjes heel lief. Ik raad deze plek zeker aan ! Ik zou graag nog een keer teruggaan.
Very spacious, comfortable rooms set in large, parkland like grounds with manicured gardens. Friendly hosts showing genuine care, offering complimentary drinks upon arrival and personalized recommendations of local attractions. Breakfast was a treat concluding an overall very pleasant stay.
We cannot praise the De Oude Pastorie too highly. Johannes was a great communicator, and also recommended us booking a local restaurant in advance. He booked us a table at the nearby Chantelle’s Bistro, where we had a memorable meal. We had very large and comfortable room in the main house. It had an en-suite that had both a comfortable bath and spacious shower cubicle. There were, in addition, in one room, comfortable lounge chairs, a small settee and a writing desk. One felt you were a guest in a grand house. Johannes’ eldest son took our heavy suitcases both from our car to the room and when we left. We enjoyed a superb breakfast next morning, cooked by Eunice, on a well laid out table, fit for a King. Johannes is a very interesting man who enjoys meeting visitors passing through the country town of Swellandam. Try to visit the Drostdy museum complex at the eastern end of town, which gives a comprehensive understanding of how the Cape developed from the times of the Dutch East India Company to the First World War. In the centre of town, the dazzling large white Kerk should not be missed, you can view the interior where pews in a semicircular setting can seat over 1400 worshippers. We hope to return one day to see more of the Overbergs and look forward to staying again at this lovely home stay.
What a fantastic experience on my first night in South Africa. My room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. It had that country charm. After a long flight from Australia and a short drive from Cape Town, it was the perfect way to start my holiday. Had a relaxing bath to soak my weary body after all that travel. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. After a great night's sleep, my host presented me with a delicious big country breakfast. Set me off on the right track for my next adventure to the Garden Route.
Fabulous place with a great location in a lovely town. The chalet was large and spacious with all we needed and more - so comfortable. The hosts were so helpful from before we arrived and all during our stay - nothing was too much trouble ! We hope To come back soon
Very charmful place, lovely architecture and decoration, well located, with very helpful friendly owners and staff. Our room was clean, cozy and inviting to relax after a long journey from Cape Town and Cape of Good Hope. Just what we wanted. In such an historic place, what could be better!? An jewel in a town that is a jewel itself.

From the manicured grounds, the friendly face that welcomes you to the royal bedrooms where attention to every decor detail was applied. This is more than an accommodation establishment, it's an experience on its own.
We loved our stay at De Oude Pastorie. Our hosts were so lovely, very friendly and so engaging. We enjoyed the breakfast chats in the morning. So lovely to meet new people and to hear their stories. We were in the Suite and it was everything it promised to be. The fireplace is amazing and so is the large shower! The house was beautiful and well maintained, it is a true gem. It's close to restaurants and we had the most amazing time in Swellendam. We would love to come and stay again

Excellent, not only a guesthouse but they really care for the wellbeing of their guests. There is no vehicle hire company in Swellendam and Antone drove us between the business appointments, great great stay and hospitality. Will be back
