The write up on line about The Colonial is a far stretch from the reality. The reviews are correct. We looked around and unfortunately there was not much available in Campbelltown for our dates. As it was, $730 for 5 nights was way above what we wanted to pay for that area. First of all I’d like to compliment the staff. They were lovely. The house keeping staff especially were very friendly and helpful. Our beds were comfortable and there was enough hot water. That’s about as good as it gets. I double checked there was wifi as my daughter works from her computer from 5am in the morning and then later at night. I was told there was wifi. There wasn’t. We were then told it was being fixed and it didn’t get fixed. So my daughter lost 2 days work and 2 days pay. We were not offered compensation in any way. The 2nd night we stayed there was some kind of deal going on in the car park. At 2am, arguing and fighting broke out in the room above my folks room and then 2 cars sat idling with their lights on for an hour and a half in the car park. Right outside my folks room. They are elderly so it was very unsettling. I watched from another room as baskets of washing were brought out to cars and then cars moved and people got out and In. It all seemed very dodgy and not what we needed on a family medical emergency trip. There was no cutlery or plates but a toaster and kettle. We had to buy a knife just so we could have toast. The rooms were very smelly and musty. We bought air freshener just to make it bearable for 5 days. If you had to stay In This area I’d recommend it for a night if you were stuck. But for the price it’s definately not worth it. I’ve stayed in 5 star beach accomodation that’s been cheaper than this. It is however close to shops and transport if that’s something you need.

This was cheap (for Campbelltown) to stay at for an overnight stay on my way from QLD to Melbourne, Campbelltown is just off the freeway. The aircon worked to heat the room, had a good hot shower and the TV worked fine. On the other hand, there was no security chain on the door and the door lock was very basic, I would not stay here again due to the lack of security. The chairs were uncomfortable metal ones. There was a small round table but it had the microwave on it so could not be used to sit at. You could sit at the bench in the room. Room was spacious with room for a couch but there wasn't one. In bathroom, all original fittings (1970's?) and shower is over the bath. I was in the end room and when I asked about wifi code, was given it on a bit of paper and warned the room was a bit far from the wifi. This was correct, wifi did not work at all, could not login. There were about 10 other cars outside the rooms, so place was half full, so is getting some custom

The photos on *********** are a bit misleading, the place isn't as good as all that... I think this motel saw its glory days in the 80's and hasn't seen much maintenance since. Windows that don't open, doors that don't close, mould, ripped carpet, holes in walls, non-smoking rooms that reek of stale tobacco... But, the linen was fresh and clean, the beds well-made and comfortable. Certainly not the worst place I've stayed in. Also, don't mind the ground floor inhabitants that stare at you slack-jawed as you walk past. They seem harmless if a little disconcerting.
